Truck and driveway plowing worksheet

Snow plowing pricing calculator

Estimate a profitable plow price for driveways, lanes, and small route jobs using driveway dimensions, snow depth, truck cost, travel miles, minimum trip charge, and target margin.

Live calculator

Start with a route-ready driveway plow estimate

The preset loads a long driveway scenario with truck-plow equipment and a higher minimum trip charge. Adjust route distance, depth band, and included walk work before using the bid range.

Plowing bid logic

What changes a driveway plowing price

Driveway plowing gets risky when operators price only by driveway size. The route, trigger depth, turnaround time, and minimum trip charge usually decide whether the stop is profitable.

Route time sets the floor

A short driveway can still lose money when it is outside the route or requires a slow turnaround.

  • Raise the minimum trip charge for scattered stops or after-hours calls.
  • Use travel miles to reflect deadhead time between route clusters.
  • Keep fuel and equipment hourly cost separate from labor.

Depth bands need terms

Per-push driveway rates should state the snowfall trigger and what happens when accumulation jumps.

  • Use 3-6 inches as a normal residential trigger band.
  • Quote 6-10 inches with extra contingency or per-event terms.
  • Move 10+ inch storms to hourly, per-inch, or emergency pricing.

Walks and salt change scope

Bundled sidewalks and ice melt can turn a fast plow stop into a labor-heavy job.

  • Add sidewalk linear feet when handwork is part of the service.
  • Leave salt disabled unless the plow price includes material.
  • Show a separate salt line when customers compare bare plowing bids.

Driveway size

Length and width estimate the plowable surface before any sidewalk add-on.

Truck cost

Equipment hourly cost keeps plow wear, maintenance, and ownership in the quote.

Trip floor

Minimum charge protects short stops from route time and dispatch overhead.

Bid range

Low and high range helps adjust for competition without hiding margin.
